Your cross, Christ Savior, has destroyed the power of death and has abolished the deception of the devil. Therefore mankind saved by faith, offers you hymns of praise forever. |
|
|
All of creation has been enlightened by your resurrection, O Lord, and paradise has once again been opened. Therefore, all creation extols you and offers hymns of praise forever. |
|
|
I glorify the might of the Father and the Son and the power of the Holy Spirit, the undivided, uncreated Godhead, the consubstantial Trinity that reigns to the ages of ages. |

|
We worship your precious cross, O Christ, and praise and glorify your resurrection, for by your wounds we have all been healed. |
|
|
We praise the Savior who took flesh from the Virgin, for he was crucified for our sake and rose on the third day, bestowing on us his great mercy. |
|
|
Going down to those in Hades, Christ gave them the good news saying: Take courage, I am now triumphant. I am the resurrection. I shall lead you forth, for I have broken the gates of death. |
|
|
We who are unworthy to stand in your immaculate house send up to you our evening hymn, O Christ our God, and call upon you from the depths to deliver your people from the hands of their adversaries. You have enlightened the world by your third day resurrection, O loving God. |
Καὶ νῦν. |
Glory. Both now. Theotokion. |

How can we not marvel at your theandric childbirth, O most reverend Maid? For while having had no spousal congress, all-blameless one, you gave birth unto a Son unfathered in the flesh, Who had, unmothered, been begotten of the Father before all ages. He in no way underwent any change, intermingling or division; but He preserved each nature''s distinct identity in its totality. Therefore, O Virgin Mother and Lady, entreat Him for the salvation of the souls of those confessing you, in Orthodox manner, to be Theotokos. |

By your passion, O Christ, you have darkened the sun. By your resurrection, you have given all things light. Accept our evening hymn, O lover of mankind. |
The Aposticha, which in Greek have the Alphabet as acrostic. By St. John of Damascus. |
Verse: The Lord reigns; He clothed Himself with majesty; the Lord clothed and girded Himself with power. [SAAS] |
|
|
Your life giving resurrection, O Lord, has brought light to the entire earth and revived your creation that lay in corruption. Therefore, we, released from the curse of Adam, cry aloud: Glory to you, almighty Lord. |
Verse: And He established the world, which shall not be moved. [SAAS] |
|
|
Suffering in the flesh, you, O God, who by nature cannot be changed, have changed yourself. Creation, unable to bear the sight of you hanging, was prostrate with fear, and it groaned as it sang the praises of your long suffering. You descended into Hades, and rose on the third day, granting life and great mercy to the world. |
Verse: Holiness is proper to Your house, O Lord, unto length of days. [SAAS] |
|
|
You, O Christ have suffered death to deliver us from death, and you arose on the third day from the dead resurrecting with yourself those who acknowledge you as God. And you have enlightened the world. Lord, glory to you. |
Καὶ νῦν. |
Glory. Both now. Theotokion. |
By the will of the Father, you have, without seed, conceived by the Holy Spirit the Son of God, who was begotten of the Father without a mother before the world began. He was born for our sake in the flesh of you without a father [and you gave birth to Him and nursed Him in infancy]. Therefore, never cease to intercede to deliver our souls from danger. |
Resurrectional Apolytikion. |
|
|
Let the heavens sing for joy, and let everything on earth be glad. For with His arm the Lord has worked power. He trampled death under foot by means of death; and He became the firstborn from the dead. From the maw of Hades He delivered us; and He granted the world His great mercy. |
Theotokion. |
|
|
Unto you who mediated the salvation of our race we sing praises, O Virgin Theotokos. For your Son and our God in the flesh that He assumed from you accepted suffering by means of crucifixion and has thereby set us free from corruption, in His love for man. |

Incomprehensible sole Dominion and single triadic Godhead, count me worthy of your thrice-resplendent light, that I may extol You, who are unceasingly extolled by the mouths of Angels singing thrice-holy hymns. |
|
|
All the orders of the Bodiless extol You with sacred hymns, O single, thrice-radiant, manifestly sovereign Creator and Cause. Let us congregations of humans join them, and with earthen mouths let us faithfully glorify the Trinity in unison. |
|
|
Theologians aptly and symbolically call You Nous and Logos and Spirit, signifying the Son''s impassible generation and the Spirit''s divine procession from You, the unbegotten Father, O God the monarch over all. |
Theotokion. |
|

In Your connatural love for humanity, O Logos of God, You assumed human nature, and You radiated the triple, monarchal light of the one Godhead. And now because of You, Your immaculate Virgin Mother is glorified by all. |
ᾨδὴ γʹ. |

Long ago, when Elias ordered that water be poured three times on the logs, he disclosed the three hypostases of God''s single Dominion. |
|
|
We the earthborn, unstable in nature as we are, extol You, our one and thrice-radiant, inalterable Creator, and we sing, "O Master, keep us from turning to any evil, and save us." |
|
|

Christ came down from His exalted throne; and in His love for humanity, He exalted humanity through you, O all-immaculate Virgin; and He shined the tri-solar light on all. |

|

Very merciful Logos of God, You have drawn us to Your love. For us You became incarnate immutably, and You initiated us into the mystery of one Godhead with triple light. Therefore we glorify You. |

In images Isaiah saw the one Dominion, God in three persons, glorified by the immaculate voices of the Seraphim. Then he was sent to proclaim the thrice-radiant essence and the tri-solar Monad. |
|
|

We extol the tri-solar dominion * of the consubstantial divine nature, * and we sing the thrice-holy hymn and say, * "Holy are You, O Father unoriginate! * Holy are You, O Son, likewise unoriginate! * Holy Spirit! Our one and inseparate * humane God, Creator of the universe!" |

Uncontainable is God the Logos, * yet He fit into your womb, O Virgin. * He was incarnate of you and appeared as a man, * without sustaining confusion nor division * of the Godhead, divine and unalterable. * Greatest miracle! And therefore we ever faithfully * declare and glorify you as the Mother of God. |

O Master, I pray You make me be the wholly luminous temple of Your thrice-radiant Godhead; and by Your illuminating rays, make me be higher than the dreadful darkness of sins and passions, O God of our fathers. (2) |

We profess one form of the Godhead in three hypostatic and separate identities, of Father, Son and Spirit, and we sing, "Blessed are You, the God of our fathers." |

God in three hypostases appeared to Abraham at the Oak of Mamre. In His mercy, He gave him Isaac as the reward for his hospitality. We now glorify Him as the God of our fathers. |

In His goodness, the Creator of all appeared on earth, when He became human and was born from your virgin and immaculate womb; and He deified us, O all-immaculate, blessed, and all-pure Mother of God. |

The Logos and the Spirit, coeval with the unoriginate Father, sprang forth from Him, as from a root, as shoots of the superessential Godhead. Thus they showed the single glory and power of the Trinity, which we believers all extol unto the ages. (2) |

O Lady, the Prophets, as oracles, foresaw your childbirth long before, and they extolled your Son, who would be born supernaturally without seed. We also in unison extol Him as Lord, and we exalt Him beyond measure, unto all the ages. |

The godlike orders of the bodiless hosts yearn to take wing and plainly see Your thrice-radiant glory, but they are very reverent toward the unapproachable light, and they unceasingly sing praises to You. We join them and in unison we glorify You, O our one God, the Trinity. (2) |

Christ has risen from the dead, the first of those who have fallen asleep. The Artificer of all things that were made was first born before all creation; now He has renewed the corrupted nature of our human race in himself. O Death, you no longer have dominion, for the Master of all has destroyed your power. |

For the devout faithful, O Virgin, there is no surfeit of your praises at all; for receiving divine and spiritual love, as Mother of God with love they magnify you. |

You have placed the one who bore you, O Christ, as an intercessor for us, who can never be put to shame. At her entreaties, O Merciful, you distribute to us the Spirit who gives freely of his goodness, who proceeds through you from the Father. |

O come, all you nations. Know the power of the awe-inspiring mystery. For Christ our Savior, the Logos who was in the beginning, voluntarily for us was crucified and buried, and He rose from the dead to save the universe. Let us worship Him. |
|

Those who guarded You reported all the marvelous events, O Lord. However the Sanhedrin of futility filled their hands with gifts, thinking that in this way they could hide Your resurrection, which the world glorifies. Have mercy on us. |

The universe was filled with joy in the experience of Your resurrection. Mary Magdalene came unto the tomb and found an Angel sitting upon the stone. With his garments flashing like lightning, he said to her, "Why do you seek among the dead the One who is alive? He is not here, but has risen as He said, and is going before you to Galilee." |
|

In Your light we will see light, O Master who loves humanity; for You have risen from the dead, and You granted salvation to the human race, so that all creation may glorify You, only sinless One. Have mercy on us. |

The myrrh-bearing women offered their tears as a morning hymn to You, O Lord; for in possession of sweet-smelling spices, they came to Your tomb intent on anointing Your immaculate body for burial. The Angel sitting on the stone announced to them the good tidings. "Why do you seek among the dead the One who lives? For as God He has trampled on death. He has risen, and granted unto all His great mercy." |

Like lightning flashed the Angel sitting on Your life-giving sepulcher; and to the myrrh-bearing women he said, "The Redeemer has emptied the graves. He has despoiled Hades, and He resurrected on the third day as the only God and omnipotent." |

On the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb seeking You. But not finding You, she lamented and cried out with weeping, "Alas, O my Savior! How were You stolen, O King of all?" Then did a pair of life-bearing Angels sitting inside the sepulcher cry out, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said, "I weep, for they have taken my Lord away from the tomb, and I do not know where they have laid Him." Then she turned around, and, having recognized You, straightaway she cried out, "My Lord and my God, glory to You." |

Whereas the Hebrews had enclosed Life itself in a tomb, the Robber has opened up Eden in a word. He cried out and uttered, "He who for me was with me crucified was along with me on a cross suspended, and appeared to me to be jointly seated with the Father upon the throne; for He is indeed Christ our God, and He possesses great mercy." |

You are supremely blessed, O Virgin Theotokos. For through Him who from you became incarnate was Hades taken prisoner, and Adam has been summoned back; the curse has been neutralized, and Eve has been liberated; death has been put to death, and we have been brought to life. Therefore extolling we cry out: O Christ our God, You are blessed, for so was Your good pleasure. Glory to You! |

Today has salvation come to pass in the world. Let us sing to Him who resurrected from the tomb and is the Author of our life. For, destroying death by death, He gave us the victory and the great mercy. |

When our primal father Adam disobeyed Your divine command, O Christ, You expelled him from Paradise. But when the faithful Robber while on the cross confessed You to be Lord, You restored him there, as he cried to You: "O Savior, when You come in Your kingdom, remember me." |

When in Paradise we sinned, You condemned us and pronounced the curse of death, being the Lord and the Giver of life. But later, loving Master, You who are sinless suffered in the flesh, and You brought the dead back to life again, who shouted: "When You come in Your kingdom, remember us." |
|
|
Having risen from the dead, You also raised us from the passions, by Your holy resurrection, O Christ our God. And roundly You defeated death''s dominion over us, O Lord. Therefore we believers cry out to You: O Savior, when You come in Your kingdom, remember us. |

After three days in the tomb, as God, You gave life to the dead who were in Hades and also resurrected them. And being good, You welled forth the gift of incorruption to us all, who in faith cry out now unceasingly: O Savior, when You come in Your kingdom, remember us. |

When You had risen from the dead, You appeared first to the myrrh-bearing women, and You spoke to them and said, "Rejoice." You sent them, Lord, proclaiming Your resurrection to Your friends, O Christ. Therefore we believers cry out to You: O Savior, when You come in Your kingdom, remember us. |

Prophet Moses on the hill of old extended his hands and thus prefigured the Cross, defeating Amalek. And now with faith we take up the mighty weapon of the precious Cross, and defeat the demons, and cry aloud: "O Savior, when You come in Your kingdom, remember us." |

O believers, let us all extol the Father and the Son and the all-holy Spirit, the single God, as from one Sun, the one Lord. For thrice-resplendent is the Trinity, which illumines all who cry out in faith: "O Lord, when You come in Your kingdom, remember us." |
